Key is the umbrella name for all my projects, and the name under which my latest lyrical project, Candor, is placed. Over the years, I have consistently said that ‘I don’t write lyrics’ or songs in the traditional sense. But it turned out that this wasn’t true, as upon reflection and perusal of my unfinished projects, I have in fact written many songs which contain lyrics.
‘Key’ was a name given to me by a friend named Song, who simply decided one day that this was what she wanted to call me. Presumably, this had something to do with the instrument I play, piano. I accepted this at the time, but then came to really identify with it, and so it became something I actively embraced.
Under the name Key, I have been compiling music for Candor as well as beginning a number of production collaborations and even a few small live shows.
